CAF launches Stadium Inspections ahead of AFCON 2027

A group of technical experts from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has travelled to the three countries hosting the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations to inspect stadiums and other facilities. This week marked the start of the visits, which will run through Tuesday, February 17.

The inspectors will evaluate the infrastructure, safety, security, and pitch conditions at important tournament-designated training and match locations. According to CAF, the assessments are a component of a larger initiative to improve AFCON’s reputation as one of the top football leagues in the world and to increase standards both on and off the field.

The inspection tour will start in Tanzania, with visits planned for Dar es Salaam, Arusha, and Zanzibar. In Kenya, the team will evaluate stadiums in Nairobi, including Kasarani Stadium, Nyayo Stadium, and Talanta Sport Stadium, as well as training facilities like the Ulinzi Sports Complex and the Kenya Academy of Sports.

In Uganda, the CAF delegation will visit Entebbe and Kampala, inspecting Mandela National Stadium and other training sites, before traveling to Hoima to review Hoima City Stadium.

CAF officials say these inspections are critical to ensuring that host nations meet the organizational and technical requirements necessary for a successful AFCON 2027.
