WAEC Result of Edo Governor Monday Okpebholo leaks online

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, is facing backlash online following the circulation of his old WAEC result, which many Nigerians say casts doubt on his academic competence.

The controversy erupted shortly after the governor issued a stern warning to Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, insisting that Obi must obtain security clearance before making any future visits to Edo State. This came after Obi’s visit to Benin City on July 7, where he donated ₦15 million to the St. Philomena Hospital School of Nursing Sciences

Now, a copy of Okpebholo’s WAEC result released in 2008 has resurfaced, showing what critics describe as “embarrassingly poor” academic performance. According to the result, the governor sat for six subjects and scored:

  • C5 in Mathematics (his best grade),
  • D7 in Commerce, Economics, and Christian Religious Knowledge (CRK),
  • E8 in English Language.

This revelation has ignited heated reactions on social media, with many linking his poor grades to what they describe as recent blunders in his public speeches.

Here are some online reactions:

  • Gifty said: “E don cast. No wonder he couldn’t pronounce ‘billions’ and promised to import insecurity in Edo State.”
  • Emmanuel Nweke commented: “No wonder he couldn’t pronounce figures.”
  • Nkem Dike wrote: “No wonder he told Edo people that he would give them insecurity 🤣.”
  • Samsy Kenny joked: “No wonder… So this man dey cram wetin dem write for am, and when e reach to deliver speech, he go miss the lines. Lol. Oga just use him hand buy market for Alaba International.”

The incident has further intensified the political tension between supporters of Governor Okpebholo and Peter Obi, with many calling for greater scrutiny of the governor’s leadership capacity and academic background.
