Nigerians have been advised to disregard the fake news entirely
The false reports included claims that Hadiza Bala Usman, the President’s Special Adviser on Policy and Coordination, had been appointed as the new SGF, and that Akume was moving to become the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). However, these claims have been firmly refuted by the Presidency, which reiterated that there has been no change in Akume’s status as SGF
Senator George Akume remains the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, and no new appointments have been made by President Tinubu as of the latest official statements. The Presidency has urged the public to ignore and dismiss the rumors as fake news
