The video, recorded at the September 2, 2026 premiere of “A Mama Deola Wedding Story” in Lagos, showed Mo Bimpe seated between Jide Awobona and her husband, fellow actor Lateef Adedimeji. In the clip, she was seen leaning on Jide’s shoulder while looking at something on her phone.

The footage sparked online debate, with some viewers suggesting Adedimeji appeared uncomfortable and raising questions about boundaries within the marriage.
Addressing the criticism via her Instagram story on Sunday, Mo Bimpe said she found it notable that a casual conversation between friends had been interpreted as suspicious. The actress maintained that not all marriages are governed by insecurity or control.
“Not every marriage is built on fear, insecurity, and constant monitoring. Some marriages are built on trust, friendship, respect, and confidence. The fact that so many of you found that interaction strange says more about the relationships you’re used to than it does about mine. Not every marriage is toxic, there are still healthy marriages but I understand if you can’t relate. My husband is a secure man, a brief conversation with a family friend does not threaten our marriage, or require anyone’s concern,” she said.
