A splinter group within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Adamawa State has moved to expel former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and ex-Secretary to the Government of the Federation Babachir Lawal, citing alleged acts of gross indiscipline.

The announcement was made by Alhaji Raji Zumo, who chairs the factional wing of the party, during a press briefing in Yola. He stated that the suspension extends to members of the Sadiq Dasin-led executive council affiliated with the faction, and that all those affected would face additional disciplinary proceedings.

Zumo maintained that the party was not the personal property of any individual, warning that no one — regardless of their political stature — would be permitted to commandeer or privatize it.

He further alleged that both Atiku and Lawal had been working behind the scenes to handpick and impose candidates on the party in the buildup to the 2027 general elections. In his view, such conduct had damaged the party’s standing and would not be tolerated going forward.
