Nigerian Stars Shine as Five Artists Earn 2026 Grammy Nominations

Nigerian music continues to command global attention as five of the nation’s leading artists have been nominated for the 2026 Grammy Awards.

The 68th edition of the Grammys is set to take place on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. Nigerian acts will compete in major categories, reaffirming the country’s growing dominance on the international music scene.

Burna Boy leads the charge with two nominations — Best African Music Performance for “Love” and Best Global Music Album for No Sign of Weakness — extending his remarkable streak as one of Africa’s most consistent Grammy contenders.

Davido also makes a strong return with his collaboration “With You” featuring Omah Lay, which is up for Best African Music Performance. Ayra Starr joins the lineup with “Gimme Dat” featuring Wizkid, earning her another Grammy nod in the same category. Through the collaboration, Wizkid adds yet another nomination to his already illustrious career.

Omah Lay, featured on Davido’s “With You”, rounds out Nigeria’s impressive list of nominees, further cementing his place among the continent’s rising stars.

In a historic moment, Afrobeat pioneer Fela Anikulapo-Kuti will be posthumously honored with the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, becoming the first African artist to receive the prestigious distinction. The award will be presented at the Special Merit Awards Ceremony on Saturday, January 31, 2026, alongside global legends such as Whitney Houston, Chaka Khan, Cher, and Paul Simon.
