The transaction is valued at approximately US$500 million.

This acquisition marks another major milestone in Heirs Energies’ strategy to deepen indigenous participation in key energy assets and advance sustainable energy development and security across Nigeria and Africa.

Commenting on the deal, Tony Elumelu, Chairman of Heirs Energies, said the move underscores the company’s confidence in Africa’s capacity to “own, develop, and responsibly manage its strategic resources.” He described the acquisition as a long-term investment in Nigeria’s and Africa’s energy future, aligned with Heirs Energies’ mission to drive energy security, industrialization, and shared prosperity.

Elumelu commended Seplat Energy for building a strong, transparent, and resilient business platform, noting that Heirs Energies is committed to supporting the company’s continued growth and value creation for all stakeholders.

The landmark transaction received financial backing from two prominent African financial institutions—Afreximbank and the Africa Finance Corporation (AFC)—further demonstrating the continent’s growing ability to finance its own strategic deals.

Heirs Energies remains committed to delivering innovative, sustainable, and responsible energy solutions, prioritizing safety, environmental stewardship, and inclusive growth.
