Wike Reaffirms Loyalty to PDP Despite Supporting Tinubu Ahead of 2027 Elections

Nyesom

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has reaffirmed his commitment to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), dismissing speculation that he plans to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Wike clarified that his political support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu does not amount to a change in party allegiance.

Speaking during an interaction with journalists, Wike emphasized that political collaboration across party lines is permissible in a democratic setting and does not require abandoning one’s party. According to him, his loyalty remains firmly with the PDP, the platform under which he has built his political career.

He further underscored the importance of respecting party structures and adhering to established political processes, warning against actions that could disrupt internal democracy within any political organization.

Wike’s remarks come amid rising tensions and speculation regarding his political future as the 2027 general elections draw nearer. His continued cordial relationship with President Tinubu has fueled debate about possible realignments in Nigeria’s political landscape.
