Rwanda: Kigali Mayor Urges Responsible Celebration Ahead of Year-End Festivities

The Mayor of the City of Kigali, Samuel Dusengiyumva, has urged residents and visitors to celebrate responsibly as the year-end festivities begin.

Speaking on Wednesday, December 24, at the opening of the Kigali Countdown Fest, Dusengiyumva emphasized the importance of moderation, safety, and respect for public order throughout the celebrations.

He called on the public to drink responsibly, refrain from unsafe driving, and comply with established noise control regulations.

The mayor noted that while the festive season is a time for joy and togetherness, it should not compromise public safety or well-being.

The Kigali Countdown Fest, which kicked off at the Kigali Convention Center roundabout, will run for 10 days, marking one of the city’s biggest year-end celebrations. Authorities have assured close collaboration with event organizers and security agencies to ensure the festivities proceed smoothly and safely.
